मातापितृपूजन-प्रधानधर्मः (Primacy of Filial Service) — Mārkaṇḍeya’s Account of the Vyādha’s Instruction
उत्तड़कविप्रसहित: कुवलाश्वो महीपति: । पुत्रै: सह महीपाल: प्रययौ भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठ] इसी समय राजा कुवलाश्वने अपनी सेना, सवारी तथा पुत्रोंके साथ प्रस्थान किया। उनके साथ विप्रवर उत्तंक भी थे
Uttaṅkaviprasahitaḥ Kuvalāśvo mahīpatiḥ | putraiḥ saha mahīpālaḥ prayayau Bharatarṣabha ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Then King Kuvalāśva, lord of the earth, set out with the brāhmaṇa Uttanka and with his sons. Thus the protector of the realm departed—O bull among the Bharatas—showing a righteous king’s readiness to act in harmony with spiritual counsel.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights an ideal of dharmic kingship: a ruler acts with readiness and responsibility, while also valuing the presence and counsel of a learned brāhmaṇa, suggesting that power should move in harmony with spiritual-ethical guidance.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that King Kuvalāśva departs on an expedition or journey, accompanied by the brāhmaṇa Uttanka and by his sons, marking the beginning of the next action in the story.
