Āraṇyaka Parva, Adhyāya 116: Jamadagni–Reṇukā Narrative and the Kārtavīrya Conflict

Akṛtavraṇa’s Account

tam āśramapadaṃ prāptam ṛṣer bhāryā samārcayat | sa yuddhamada-sammatto nābhyanandat tathārcanam ||

When he arrived at the sage’s hermitage, the sage’s wife received him with due hospitality and reverent welcome. But he, intoxicated with the arrogance of battle, did not accept that honor with gratitude—revealing how power, when unchecked by dharma, turns even a guest into a violator of sacred refuge.
