After duly honoring those great seers, Madhusūdana (Kṛṣṇa) addressed them again: “Revered ones, what is your purpose? What service may I render to you? For what reason have you come down to this earth?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse models dharmic conduct through humility and hospitality: one should honor holy guests and then ask how to be of service, recognizing that the arrival of sages is purposeful and deserves attentive, respectful inquiry.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that after worshipping the assembled great sages, Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana) questions them about their mission—what they intend to accomplish on earth and what service he can offer—framing the encounter as a respectful reception of revered visitors.
