अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)
युधिष्ठिरस्य पुरुषा: केउत्र चक्र: सभा इमा: | आनीयमन्तां सभाकारा: प्रदेयार्हा हि मे मता:,'युधिष्ठिरके किन आदमियोंने ये सभाभवन बनाये हैं। उन सबको बुलाओ। मैं उन्हें पुरस्कार देनेके योग्य मानता हूँ
yudhiṣṭhirasya puruṣāḥ ke 'tra cakruḥ sabhā imāḥ | ānīyamantāṁ sabhākārāḥ pradeyārhā hi me matāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “Which men of Yudhiṣṭhira built this assembly hall here? Bring the builders of the hall before me; in my judgment they are truly worthy of reward.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a ruler’s ethical duty to recognize skilled service and repay it appropriately—rewarding merit and labor is presented as a just and grateful act aligned with dharma.
The speaker asks who among Yudhiṣṭhira’s men constructed the assembly hall and orders that the builders be summoned, declaring them worthy of receiving rewards.
