Nara-Nārāyaṇa Precedent and Bhīṣma’s Counsel on Kṛṣṇa–Arjuna; Karṇa’s Reply
नरनारायणावेतौ लोकाल्लोकं समास्थितौ । ऊर्जितौ स्वेन तपसा महासत्त्वपराक्रमौ,ब्रद्माजी बोले-बृहस्पते! ये जो दोनों महान् शक्तिशाली तपस्वी पृथ्वी और आकाशको प्रकाशित करते हुए हमलोगोंका अतिक्रमण करके आगे बढ़ गये हैं, नर और नारायण हैं। ये अपने तेजसे प्रजवयलित और कान्तिसे प्रकाशित हो रहे हैं। इनका धैर्य और पराक्रम महान् है। ये अपनी तपस्यासे अत्यन्त प्रभावशाली होनेके कारण भूलोकसे ब्रह्मलोकमें आये हैं
naranārāyaṇāv etau lokāl lokaṃ samāsthitau | ūrjitau svena tapasā mahāsattvaparākramau ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “These two—Nara and Nārāyaṇa—have passed from one world to another, advancing beyond the ordinary reach of beings. Strengthened by their own austerity, they shine with immense spiritual power and heroic might. By the force of their tapas they have risen from the earthly realm to the Brahmā-world, radiant with inner fire and brilliance.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
