Vāyu said: “Sañjaya, my constant wish is only this: that peace be made with them. Before the Pāṇḍavas I say nothing else—‘Be reconciled with the Kauravas; be calm and peaceable toward them.’ From King Yudhiṣṭhira too I hear this very same pleasing counsel, and I myself judge it to be right.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse emphasizes śānti (peace) as a dharmic priority: one should speak and act toward reconciliation, restraining hostility even when conflict is imminent, and valuing counsel that prevents needless destruction.
Vāyudeva addresses Sañjaya, stating that his consistent message before the Pāṇḍavas is to make peace with the Kauravas. He notes that King Yudhiṣṭhira also voices the same agreeable intention, which Vāyu endorses as correct.
