भीष्म–जामदग्न्यसंवादः (Amba-prasaṅga and Kurukṣetra Dvandva Declaration) / Bhishma–Jamadagnya Dialogue
तमहं समवष्टभ्य पुनरात्मानमाहवे । शतसंख्यै: शरै: क्रुद्धस्तदा राममवाकिरम्
tam ahaṁ samavaṣṭabhya punar ātmānam āhave | śatasaṅkhyaiḥ śaraiḥ kruddhas tadā rāmam avākiram ||
Steadying myself again in the midst of battle, I regained my composure; then, in anger, I showered Rāma with arrows numbering in the hundreds.
राम उवाच
The verse juxtaposes self-mastery with martial action: a warrior first steadies the mind and body, yet if anger dominates, that regained steadiness can be used to intensify violence—showing why inner control must include restraint over wrath.
The speaker describes recovering his footing and composure in the fight and then, driven by anger, launching a heavy counterattack by raining hundreds of arrows upon Rāma.
