Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfastness and fearlessness grounded in proven resilience: Bhīṣma recalls having endured even Paraśurāma’s greatest weapons, implying that mere force without superior merit or destiny cannot shake one who is protected by vows, boons, and disciplined resolve.

In Udyoga Parva’s pre-war tensions, Bhīṣma speaks in a challenging, confidence-filled tone to an adversary, asserting that if even Paraśurāma’s divine missiles failed to hurt him, the present opponent is unlikely to succeed.
