Udyoga Parva — Gandhārī’s Counsel to Duryodhana
इति मत्वाब्रवीद् धर्म परमेष्ठी प्रजापति: । वरुणाय प्रयच्छैतान् बद्ध्वा दैतेयदानवान्,“यह भावी परिणाम जानकर परमैष्ठी प्रजापति ब्रह्माने धर्मराजसे यह बात कही--“तुम इन दैत्यों और दानवोंको बाँधकर वरुणदेवको सौंप दो”
iti matvābravīd dharma parameṣṭhī prajāpatiḥ | varuṇāya prayacchaitān baddhvā daiteya-dānavān |
Foreseeing what the outcome would be, Prajāpati Brahmā, the Supreme Lord of beings, said to Dharma: “Bind these Daityas and Dānavas and hand them over to Varuṇa.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Disruptive powers should be restrained and placed under rightful authority; justice is portrayed as orderly containment and accountability rather than personal retaliation.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Brahmā, foreseeing the consequences, instructs Dharma to bind the Daityas and Dānavas and deliver them to Varuṇa, indicating a transfer of custody within the divine administration of order.
