Purohita-Niyoga and the Brahma–Kṣatra Concord

Aila–Kaśyapa Saṃvāda

त॑ चैवान्वभिषिच्येत तथा धर्मो विधीयते । अग्र्यो हि ब्राह्मण: प्रोक्त: सर्वस्यैवेह धर्मत:,राजा पहले पुरोहितका वरण कर ले। उसके बाद अपना अभिषेक करावे। ऐसा करनेसे ही धर्मका पालन होता है; क्योंकि धर्मके अनुसार ब्राह्मण यहाँ सबसे श्रेष्ठ बताया गया है

taṁ caivānvabhiṣicyeta tathā dharmo vidhīyate | agryo hi brāhmaṇaḥ proktaḥ sarvasyaiveha dharmataḥ ||

And only after choosing a purohita should he proceed to his own consecration; in this way dharma is properly established. For, according to the order of righteousness, the Brāhmaṇa is declared here to be foremost for all.
