Iti prakāraṃ Śrīmahābhārate Śāntiparvaṇi antargate Mokṣadharmaparvaṇi Śukadevasya prasthāna-viṣayakaḥ trī-śata-eka-triṃśattamaḥ adhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ.
Thus ends the three-hundred-and-thirty-first chapter of the Mokṣadharma section within the Śānti Parva of the great Mahābhārata, dealing with Śukadeva’s departure.
नारद उवाच
As a colophon, the line chiefly marks completion, but it frames the chapter’s ethical thrust: Mokṣadharma emphasizes liberation-oriented dharma—detachment, inner freedom, and the renunciant ideal—here highlighted through the theme of Śukadeva’s departure.
The text is not a spoken verse but an editorial/narrative closing formula indicating that the chapter on Śukadeva’s departure within the Mokṣadharma section of Śānti Parva has concluded.
