शक्तेनापि समुद्धर्तु कम्पिता साभवत् तदा
śaktenāpi samuddhartuṃ kampitā sābhavat tadā
Bhīṣma said: “At that moment, she began to tremble—so much so that even a capable person could not lift her up.”
भीष्म उवाच
The line highlights the limits of strength in the face of intense distress: when fear, grief, or shock overwhelms a person, mere capability may not suffice—prompting a dharmic response of patience, gentleness, and compassionate support rather than force.
Bhīṣma describes a moment of acute agitation: a woman (identified by context in the surrounding verses) trembles so violently that even someone strong or competent is unable to lift or steady her at that time.
