Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya
Chapter 29

Vāyu said: “For that patron of sacrifices, at each and every rite the officiating priest received as dakṣiṇā a thousand golden elephants, and carried them away to his own home.”
The verse underscores dāna-dharma within ritual life: a yajamāna should honor sacred service by giving appropriate—and here exceptionally abundant—dakṣiṇā, reflecting respect for dharma, gratitude, and the proper maintenance of religious and social order.
Vāyu describes a sacrificer whose priest, at every sacrifice, receives a thousand golden elephants as dakṣiṇā and takes them home—an illustrative example of extraordinary generosity and ritual patronage.
