For thousands upon thousands of years, while Rāma governed the kingdom, the people lived free from disease and want, their aims fulfilled and their lives prospering—an image of righteous rule where the king’s dharma becomes the well-being of all.

The verse presents the ethical ideal of rājadharma: when a ruler governs in accordance with dharma, the result is public welfare—health, security, and the fulfillment of legitimate human aims. The king’s just administration is portrayed as directly linked to social harmony and prosperity.
Vāyudeva describes the condition of the world under Rāma’s reign: for immensely long periods, people remained disease-free and fully provided for, emphasizing the exemplary nature of Rāma’s governance as a model of righteous kingship.
