Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya

Chapter 29

śrīrāmacandrajī yadā rājyasya śāsanaṃ karoti sma, tadā striyaḥ sahasra-varṣa-jīvinaḥ, puruṣāś ca sahasra-sahasra-varṣa-jīvinaḥ āsan. na kaścid rogo kaṃcid bādhate sma; sarveṣāṃ sarve manorathāḥ siddhā bhavanti sma. nānyo'nyena vivādo 'bhūt strīṇām api kuto nṛṇām. dharma-nityāḥ prajāśvāsan rāme rājyaṃ praśāsati.

Vāyu said: When Śrī Rāmacandra ruled the kingdom, women lived for a thousand years and men for many thousands. No disease afflicted anyone, and every person’s wishes were fulfilled. There were no quarrels among one another—how much less among men, if not even among women. The people lived steadily in dharma, while Rāma governed the realm.
