अध्याय २८१ — दानधर्मः, न्यायागतधनम्, ऋणत्रय-परिशोधनं च
Dāna ethics, lawful wealth, and settling obligations
वज्जेण विष्णुयुक्तेन दिवमेव समाविशत् | दानवशत्रु महायशस्वी इन्द्रने विष्णुके तेजसे व्याप्त हुए वज्जके द्वारा वृत्रासुरका वध करके पुनः स्वर्गलोकमें ही प्रवेश किया
vajreṇa viṣṇuyuktena divam eva samāviśat | dānavāśatruḥ mahāyaśasvī indraḥ viṣṇutejasā vyāptaḥ vajreṇa vṛtrāsurasya vadhaṃ kṛtvā punaḥ svargalokaṃ eva prāviśat |
Bhishma said: Armed with the thunderbolt empowered by Viṣṇu, the illustrious Indra—enemy of the Dānavas—pervaded by Viṣṇu’s divine energy, slew Vṛtrāsura with that vajra and then re-entered heaven.
भीष्म उवाच
Power becomes ethically legitimate when it is aligned with dharma and guided by higher, divine principle; the removal of a destructive obstruction (like Vṛtra) is portrayed as restoring order, not mere conquest.
Bhīṣma recounts that Indra, empowered by Viṣṇu’s energy and wielding a Viṣṇu-aided vajra, kills Vṛtrāsura and then returns to Svarga, signaling the reestablishment of celestial stability.
