श्रेयो-धर्मकर्मविचारः
Inquiry into Śreyas, Dharma, and Karma
वृत्र बवाच एवं गते मे न विषादो<स्ति कश्चित् सम्यक् च पश्यामि वचस्तथैतत् | श्रुत्वा तु ते वाचमदीनसत्त्व विकल्मषोअस्म्यद्य तथा विपाप्मा,वृत्रासुर बोला--उदारचित्त महात्मा सनत्कुमारजी! यदि ऐसी बात है तो मुझे कोई विषाद नहीं है। मैं आपके वचनको अच्छी तरह समझता और इसे यथार्थ मानता हूँ। आज मैं यह अनुभव कर रहा हूँ कि आपकी इस वाणीको सुनकर मेरे सारे पाप और कलुष दूर हो गये
Vṛtra uvāca—evaṁ gate me na viṣādo 'sti kaścit, samyak ca paśyāmi vacas tathaitat | śrutvā tu te vācam adīna-sattva, vikalmaṣo 'smy adya tathā vipāpmā ||
Vṛtra said: “If matters stand thus, then no sorrow remains for me. I see your statement clearly and accept it as true. O noble-hearted one, having heard your words today, I feel cleansed—my stains have fallen away, and I am freed from sin.”
भीष्म उवाच
Right understanding of true instruction dispels sorrow and produces inner purification; hearing and grasping a wise teaching can remove moral defilement and restore clarity and peace.
Vṛtra responds to Sanatkumāra’s counsel: he declares that he no longer feels grief, affirms that he understands the teaching as true, and states that by hearing it he feels cleansed of sin and impurity.
