सूक्ष्मभूत-भूतात्मविज्ञानम्

Knowing the subtle principle and the bhūtātman through yoga

उत्तान आस्ये न हविर्जुहोति लोकस्य नाभिर्जगत: प्रतिष्ठा । तस्याड्रमज्ननि कृताकृतं च वैश्वानर: सर्वमिदं प्रपेदे .,जो संन्यासी खोले हुए मुखमें “प्राणाय स्वाहा” इत्यादि मन्त्रोंसे प्राणोंके लिये अन्नकी आहुति नहीं देता, अपितु प्राणों (इन्द्रिय-मन आदि) को ही आत्मामें होम देता--लीन करता है, उसका मस्तक आदि सारा अंगसमुदाय तथा किया हुआ और नहीं किया हुआ कर्मसमूह अग्निका ही अवयव हो जाता है अर्थात्‌ वह उस अग्निका स्वरूप हो जाता है, जो सृष्टिके आरम्भसे ही प्राणियोंके नाभिस्थान--उदरमें जठरानलरूपमें विराजमान है तथा सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌का आश्रय है। उस वैश्वानर (अग्नि)-ने इस सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌को व्याप्त कर रखा है

uttāna āsye na havir juhoti lokasya nābhir jagataḥ pratiṣṭhā | tasyāṅgam agnau kṛtākṛtaṃ ca vaiśvānaraḥ sarvam idaṃ prapede ||

Vyāsa said: The renunciant does not pour an oblation into an open mouth (as into an external fire). Rather, he offers the life-breaths and the inner faculties into the Self. For such a one, the whole body and the entire accumulation of deeds—done and not done—become, as it were, limbs of Fire itself; he becomes one with that Vaiśvānara, the inner digestive fire abiding in the belly, the navel of living beings and the support of the world. That Vaiśvānara pervades this entire universe.
