Bhīṣma said: One who understands rightly should contemplate, with the mind, that auspicious Reality which is dear and abiding in the heart. Therefore, a discerning person should first remove the sorrow that has arisen from resentment and inner discord, and then, inwardly, meditate upon the supremely beneficent Supreme Self dwelling within the heart.
भीष्म उवाच
First pacify the mind by removing sorrow born of resentment and inner discord, then contemplate the auspicious Supreme Self dwelling in the heart; inner clarity is presented as the basis for true meditation and ethical steadiness.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira on peace and right conduct after the war, emphasizing inward discipline: overcoming mental hostility and turning the mind toward the heart-abiding Supreme Reality.
