Educational Q&A

Even vast authority over gods and beings is not absolute or permanent; the verse gestures toward humility and the recognition that dominion shifts according to dharma and time.

Śakra (Indra) speaks, recalling a time when all classes of beings—divine, human, ancestral, celestial, serpentine, and demonic—were under his sway, and he addresses Vāsava, emphasizing that this fact is already known.
