Ajagara-vrata (The ‘Python’ Discipline): Prahrāda Questions a Wandering Sage

कार्तिक्यामद्य भोक्तार: सहस्र मे द्विजोत्तमा: । तत्रायमपि भोक्ता च देयमस्मै च मे धनम्‌

kārtikyām adya bhoktāraḥ sahasraṃ me dvijottamāḥ | tatrāyam api bhoktā ca deyam asmai ca me dhanam ||

Bhīṣma said: “Today, on the Kārtikī observance, a thousand eminent brāhmaṇas are to be fed by me. Let this man also be included among the diners there; and from my own wealth, a gift should be given to him as well.”
