Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)

पूजन्युवाच न कृतस्य तु कर्तुश्न सख्यं संधीयते पुनः । ह्ृदयं तत्र जानाति कर्तुश्विव कृतस्य च,पूजनी बोली--राजन्‌! जिसका अपकार किया जाता है और जो अपकार करता है, उन दोनोंमें फिर मेल नहीं हो सकता। जो अपराध करता है और जिसपर किया जाता है, उन दोनोंके ही हृदयोंमें वह बात खटकती रहती है

Transliteration

pūjany uvāca na kṛtasya tu kartuś ca sakhyaṃ sandhīyate punaḥ | hṛdayaṃ tatra jānāti kartuś caiva kṛtasya ca ||

Translation

Pūjanī said: “O King, between the one who has been wronged and the one who commits the wrong, friendship cannot truly be restored again. In that matter, the hearts of both—the doer and the sufferer—continue to remember it; the sting of the deed remains within them.”
