Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)

पापं कर्म कृतं किंचिद्‌ यदि तस्मिन्‌ न दृश्यते । नृपते तस्य पुत्रेषु पौत्रेष्वपि च नप्तृषु,“राजन! यदि यहाँ किये हुए पापकर्मका कोई फल कर्ताको मिलता न दिखायी दे तो यह समझना चाहिये कि उसके पुत्रों, पोतों और नातियोंको उसका फल भोगना पड़ेगा”

Transliteration

pāpaṁ karma kṛtaṁ kiñcid yadi tasmin na dṛśyate | nṛpate tasya putreṣu pautreṣv api ca naptṛṣu ||

Translation

Bhīṣma said: “O king, if for some sinful deed committed here one sees no immediate consequence befalling the doer, one should understand that its fruit will be borne by his descendants—his sons, grandsons, and even great-grandsons.”
