अमात्यो मे भव प्राज्ञ पितेवेह प्रशाधि माम्‌ । न ते5स्ति भयमस्मत्तो जीवितेनात्मन: शपे,“विद्वन! तुम मेरे मन्‍्त्री हो जाओ और पिताकी भाँति मुझे कर्तव्यका उपदेश दो। मैं अपने जीवनकी शपथ खाकर कहता हूँ कि तुम्हें हमलोगोंकी ओरसे कोई भय नहीं है

Transliteration

amātyo me bhava prājña piteveha praśādhi mām | na te 'sti bhayam asmatto jīvitena ātmanaḥ śape ||

Translation

Bhishma said: “O wise one, become my minister and, like a father, guide and instruct me here in what ought to be done. I swear upon my own life: you have nothing to fear from me (or from our side).”
