बुद्धया त्वमुशना साक्षाद्‌ बलेनाधिकृता वयम्‌ । त्वं मन्त्रबलयुक्तो हि दत्त्वा जीवितमद्य मे,“तुम साक्षात्‌ शुक्राचार्यके समान बुद्धिमान्‌ हो। तुममें मन्त्रणाका बल है। आज तुमने मुझे जीवनदान देकर अपने मन्त्रणाबलसे हम सब लोगोंके हृदयपर अधिकार प्राप्त कर लिया है”

buddhayā tvam uśanā sākṣād balenādhikṛtā vayam | tvaṁ mantrabalayukto hi dattvā jīvitam adya me ||

Bhishma said: “In intellect you are truly like Ushana (Shukracharya) himself. By your power we have been brought under your sway. For you are endowed with the strength of counsel and sacred formulae; by granting me life today, you have won mastery over the hearts of us all.”
