Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca

Bhishma said: “Be my lord—of my own body and of my household as well. And of all my possessions without exception; become their governor and administrator for me.”
The verse teaches voluntary entrustment: one may place body, household, and wealth under the governance of a worthy authority, emphasizing disciplined stewardship (anuśāsana) and dharmic management rather than possessiveness.
Bhīṣma, speaking in the Śānti Parva’s instructional setting, voices a formal act of handing over control—declaring the addressee as master of his person and estate and requesting them to administer all resources.
