उन्माथमप्यथादाय चाण्डालो वीक्ष्य सर्वश:,भरतश्रेष्ठ] चाण्डालने उस जालको लेकर उसे सब ओरसे उलट-पलटकर देखा और निराश होकर क्षणभरमें उस स्थानसे हट गया और अन्तमें अपने घरको चला गया

unmātham apy athādāya cāṇḍālo vīkṣya sarvaśaḥ

Bhīṣma said: “The Caṇḍāla, having taken up that implement as well, examined it from every side. Finding no use or hope in it, he withdrew from that spot after a moment and, in the end, went back to his home—illustrating how desire collapses into disappointment when one seeks gain where none is due.”
