Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
।। सौबलेयि निबोध त्वं यत् त्वां वक्ष्यामि तच्छुणु
saubale yi nibodha tvaṁ yat tvāṁ vakṣyāmi tac chṛṇu
Vaiśampāyana said: “O son of Subala, understand—listen carefully to what I am about to tell you.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes attentive listening and readiness to understand instruction—an ethical prerequisite for right judgment (dharma) amid the pressures of war and counsel.
