अकुर्वन् वचन तस्य नूनं शोचति पुत्रक:
akurvan vacana tasya nūnaṃ śocati putrakaḥ

धृतराष्ट उवाच
Ignoring sound counsel—especially when offered at the right time—often leads to inevitable remorse; ethical discernment includes the humility to heed wise instruction before consequences become irreversible.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reflects on the unfolding calamity of the war and infers that his son is now lamenting because he failed to follow someone’s advice, implying a missed opportunity that has turned into suffering.
