sañjaya uvāca | rākṣasāḥ saha yādobhiḥ śvaśṛgālāśva karṇataḥ | preta-piśāca-māṃsabhogī paśu-pakṣī rākṣasa jala-jantu kutte aur siyār—ye karṇake pakṣaṃ ho gaye |
Sañjaya said: Along with the Rākṣasas and the Yādavas, dogs, jackals, and horses—together with pretas and piśācas, flesh-eating creatures, beasts and birds, other rākṣasas, aquatic beings, and scavengers—were seen aligning themselves with Karṇa’s side. The narration casts an ominous moral shadow over Karṇa’s camp, as though inauspicious forces and predatory impulses gather where adharma is felt to be gaining ground in the war.
