तौ हि वीरौ महेष्वासौ मदर्थे कुरुसत्तमौ । भीष्मद्रोणौ हतीौ श्रुत्वा नार्थो वै जीवितेड्सति,वे दोनों कुरुश्रेष्ठ महाधनुर्धर वीर भीष्म और द्रोणाचार्य मेरे लिये मारे गये; यह सुन लेनेपर इस अधम जीवनको रखनेका अब कोई प्रयोजन नहीं है
Transliteration
tau hi vīrau maheṣvāsau madarthe kurusattamau | bhīṣmadroṇau hatāv śrutvā nārtho vai jīvite 'sti ||
Translation
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Those two heroic, great bowmen—Bhīṣma and Droṇa—were the foremost of the Kurus, and they have been slain for my sake. Having heard this, there is truly no purpose left in preserving this wretched life.”
