Arjuna’s Rapid Advance and the Bhīma–Śakuni Encounter

viviśur vasudhāṃ vegāt kaḍukabarhiṇavāsasaḥ | śilāparāḥ te kṛtāḥ kaṅka-mayūra-pakṣa-yuktāḥ bāṇāḥ rājñaḥ duryodhanasya suvarṇamayaṃ kavacaṃ chittvā mahāvegāt pṛthivyāṃ samāgatāḥ ||

Sañjaya said: Those arrows, swift as a rush of fate, plunged into the earth. Fashioned with stone-like hardness and fletched with the feathers of the heron and the peacock, they pierced King Duryodhana’s golden cuirass and, still driven by great force, disappeared into the ground—an image of war’s relentless momentum, where splendor and protection are no guarantee against the consequences of violence.
