Mounting it, Mahādeva—intent on the destruction of the Dānavas—rose up upon that chariot, terrifying even the gods and seeming to make the very earth tremble.
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights the awe-inspiring supremacy of divine power: when adharma or cosmic imbalance demands correction, even the gods are struck with fear, and nature itself seems to respond. Ethically, it frames divine action as purposeful—directed toward the removal of destructive forces (Dānavas) rather than mere display of might.
Duryodhana describes Mahādeva mounting a chariot with intense resolve to slay the Dānavas. As Śiva ascends, his presence is so formidable that it frightens even the gods and appears to shake the earth, emphasizing the magnitude of the impending divine action.
