“I shall grant you those weapons when you have become purified. O Bhārgava, these weapons burn to ashes one who is unfit and one who lacks the strength or competence to bear them.”
महेश्वर उवाच
Powerful knowledge and weapons require moral and practical fitness. Without purification and competence, such forces become self-destructive—harming the unworthy bearer rather than serving dharma.
Maheśvara (Śiva) sets a condition for granting divine astras: the recipient must first become purified. He warns that astras themselves ‘burn’ those who are unfit or incapable, emphasizing the danger of unqualified access to extraordinary power.
