Night Vigil and Kṛṣṇa’s Instructions to Dāruka (निशि प्रजागरः—दारुकानुशासनम्)
सहस्र॑ वामनान् कुब्जान् नक्रानू मकरकच्छपान् । सौवर्णान् विहितान् दृष्टवा ततो5स्मयत वै तदा,उनमें सहसौरों नाटे-कुबड़े ग्राह, मगर और कछुए रहते थे, जिनके शरीर सुवर्णके बने हुए थे। उन्हें देखकर राजाको उन दिनों बड़ा विस्मय होता था
sahasraṁ vāmanān kubjān nakrānū makar-kacchapān | sauvarṇān vihitān dṛṣṭvā tato ’smayata vai tadā ||
Nārada said: “There were thousands of dwarfish and hunchbacked aquatic creatures—crocodiles (nakras), makaras, and turtles—fashioned entirely of gold. Seeing them, the king was filled with astonishment at that time.”
नारद उवाच
