A morally stained act becomes worse when one boasts of it publicly; true dharma requires remorse and restraint, and society (and righteous clans) rightly condemns self-glorification rooted in wrongdoing.
Sañjaya rebukes a warrior’s conduct: after performing a blameworthy act in the war, the person is now praising himself in public, thereby earning the reproach of the Pāṇḍavas and the Yādava-related clans (Andhakas and Vṛṣṇis).
