नारायणास्त्र-शमनं द्रौणि-प्रहारश्च
Pacification of the Nārāyaṇāstra and Drauni’s Renewed Assault
तस्य क्रुद्ध: कृपो राजन् शक्ति चिक्षेप दारुणाम्
tasya kruddhaḥ kṛpo rājan śaktiṃ cikṣepa dāruṇām
Sañjaya said: O King, Kripa, inflamed with anger at him, hurled a dreadful śakti-weapon—an act that deepens the battlefield’s moral darkness, where wrath again and again overrules restraint and duty is pursued by ever more lethal means.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) drives warriors to extreme actions, suggesting an ethical warning: when wrath governs judgment, violence escalates and dharma becomes harder to discern and uphold amid war.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Kṛpa, enraged at his opponent, throws a dreadful śakti weapon, marking a sharp escalation in the combat described in this section of Droṇa Parva.
