Drauṇi’s Vow and the Description of the Nārāyaṇāstra

Sañjaya said: Amid those thousands of kings—on both the Kaurava side and the opposing host—Vṛṣasena alone stood blazing on the battlefield, radiant with martial splendor.
The verse emphasizes how exceptional courage and presence can stand out even amid vast armies. Ethically, it reflects the Mahābhārata’s recurring tension: martial excellence (kṣātra-tejas) is admired, yet it operates within the tragic machinery of war where individual brilliance does not necessarily imply moral rightness.
Sanjaya describes the battlefield scene: among countless kings on both sides, Vṛṣasena is portrayed as the single conspicuously radiant warrior, standing firm and shining with valor, drawing attention as a prominent champion in the ongoing combat.
