अलंबलवधः (Alaṃbala-vadhaḥ) / The Slaying of Alaṃbala and the Advance toward Karṇa
संजयने कहा--राजन! मैं बड़े खेदके साथ उस महासमरमें घटित हुई घटनाओंका आपके समक्ष वर्णन करूँगा। आप स्थिर होकर अपने दुराचारका परिणाम सुनें ।। पूर्वमेव हि कृष्णस्य मनोगतमिदं प्रभो । विजेतव्यो यथा वीर: सात्यकि: सौमदत्तिना,प्रभो! भगवान् श्रीकृष्णके मनमें पहले ही यह बात आ गयी थी कि आज वीर सात्यकिको सोमदत्तपुत्र भूरिश्रवा परास्त कर देगा
sañjaya uvāca—rājan! ahaṁ mahāsamare ghaṭitāḥ kathāḥ mahāśocena tava purataḥ prabravīmi; tvaṁ sthiro bhūtvā svadurācārasya phalaṁ śṛṇu. pūrvam eva hi kṛṣṇasya manogataṁ idaṁ prabho—vijetavyo yathā vīraḥ sātyakiḥ saumadattinā.
Sanjaya said: O King, with deep sorrow I shall recount to you what occurred in that great battle. Steady yourself and hear the consequence of your own wrongdoing. For earlier, O lord, this very thought had already arisen in Krishna’s mind—that on this day the hero Satyaki was destined to be overcome by Saumadatti (Bhūrishravas, the son of Somadatta).
