Sañjaya said: “O lord, I have fully explained to you everything precisely at the point where your doubt lay. O king of the Kurus, best of men—your great wrongdoing has been the decisive cause for setting this war in motion.”

The verse stresses moral accountability in political catastrophe: the war’s outbreak is traced not merely to fate or strategy but to the king’s grave adharma—his wrongful choices and failures in upholding justice.
Sañjaya addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra, stating that he has clarified the matter about which the king had doubts, and then directly points to the king’s serious wrongdoing as a principal cause behind the continuation/commencement of the war.
