यादृशं रक्षणे राज्ञ: कार्यमात्ययिकं हि नः । “अतः ट्रुपदनन्दन! मेरे लिये वहाँ जानेकी वैसी आवश्यकता नहीं है, जैसी यहाँ रहकर राजाकी रक्षा करनेकी है। यही हमलोगोंके लिये सबसे महान् कार्य है,ततः क्रुद्धो महाराज भीमसेन: पराक्रमी । अग्रतः स्यन्दनानीकं शरवर्षरवाकिरत्
Translation
“O son of Drupada! For me there is not such need to go there as there is to remain here and guard the king. This is the greatest duty for us.” Then the great king Bhimasena, mighty and wrathful, from the front poured a rain of arrows upon the chariot-division, the roar of shafts sounding like a storm.
