Sañjaya said: Then, in the thick of battle, Bhīṣma—conqueror of enemy strongholds—became enraged and, having closed in upon the twin brothers Nakula and Sahadeva, covered them with a shower of arrows.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how, in war, a warrior’s sense of duty and the heat of conflict can intensify into anger, leading to uncompromising action. It invites reflection on the ethical tension between righteous duty (kṣatriya-dharma) and the moral dangers of wrath that can overtake even eminent figures.
During the Kurukṣetra battle, Bhīṣma encounters the twin Pāṇḍava brothers Nakula and Sahadeva. Becoming angry, he advances upon them and overwhelms them by covering them with a dense volley of arrows.
