Vāsudeva-Māhātmya: Duryodhana’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Theological Account of Keśava
अदर्शयद् वासुदेवो हययाने परं बलम् | मोघान् कुर्वन् शरांस्तस्य मण्डलान्याचरल्लघु,भगवान् श्रीकृष्णने घोड़ोंको हाँकनेकी कलामें अपने उत्तम बलका परिचय दिया। वे भीष्मके बाणोंको व्यर्थ करते हुए बड़ी फुर्तीक साथ रथको मण्डलाकार चलाने लगे
adarśayad vāsudevo hayayāne paraṃ balam | moghān kurvan śarāṃs tasya maṇḍalāny ācaral laghu ||
Sañjaya said: Vāsudeva displayed his supreme prowess in the art of driving the horses. Swiftly wheeling the chariot in tight circles, he rendered Bhīṣma’s arrows ineffective. The scene underscores disciplined skill and presence of mind in battle—power expressed not as reckless violence, but as controlled mastery used to protect and sustain one’s duty.
संजय उवाच
True strength is shown through disciplined mastery and timely judgment. Kṛṣṇa’s prowess appears as controlled skill—using strategy and agility to neutralize harm and uphold the immediate duty of protection in battle.
Sañjaya describes Kṛṣṇa, acting as Arjuna’s charioteer, expertly driving the horses and rapidly wheeling the chariot in circles so that Bhīṣma’s arrows fail to strike effectively.
