Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
प्रहर्ष पाण्डवा जग्मु: पुत्रस्ते विमना5भवत् | तदनन्तर पितामह भीष्मको श्वैतके द्वारा युद्धसे विमुख किया हुआ देख समस्त पाण्डवोंको बड़ा हर्ष हुआ; परंतु आपके पुत्र दुर्योधनका मन उदास हो गया | ४४ ई ।। ततो दुर्योधन: क्रुद्धः पार्थिवै: परिवारित:
sañjaya uvāca | praharṣaṃ pāṇḍavā jagmuḥ putras te vimanābhavat | tato duryodhanaḥ kruddhaḥ pārthivaiḥ parivāritaḥ |
Sañjaya said: “The Pāṇḍavas were filled with exhilaration, while your son became downcast. Then Duryodhana, angered and surrounded by the kings, reacted in wrath—his pride wounded as the tide of the battle turned against his side. The passage shows how swiftly success and setback in war stir joy, despair, and anger, testing steadiness and discernment amid dharma’s demands.”
