यद् विशस्ता: कुरुश्रेष्ठ राजानश्न॒ सहस्रश:
Transliteration
yad viśastāḥ kuruśreṣṭha rājānaḥ sahasraśaḥ
Translation
O best of the Kurus, those kings—celebrated and renowned—were present in their thousands, as the tale recalls the vast assembly of rulers whose fame and worldly power nevertheless remained subject to time, duty (dharma), and the moral consequences of their deeds.
