Puṣkara-Śapatha Itihāsa (Agastya–Indra Dispute at the Tīrthas) | पुष्कर-शपथ-आख्यानम्
ज्ञातीनां गृहमध्यस्था सक्तूनत्तु दिनक्षये । अभोग्या वीरसूरस्तु बिसस्तैन्यं करोति या,जिसने मृणालोंकी चोरी की हो, उस स्त्रीको कुटुम्बीजनोंका अपमान करके घरमें रहनेका, दिन बीत जानेपर सत्तू खानेका, कलंकिनी होनेके कारण पतिके उपभोगमें न आनेका और ब्राह्मणी होकर भी क्षत्राणियोंके समान उग्र स्वभाववाले वीर पुत्रकी जननी होनेका पाप लगे
jñātīnāṁ gṛhamadhyasthā saktūn attu dinakṣaye | abhogyā vīrasūrastu bisastainyaṁ karoti yā ||
Viśvāmitra said: “Let the woman who has stolen lotus-stalk fibres (mṛṇāla/bisa) incur this sin: that she must remain within the household amid her kinsfolk yet live in disgrace, eating only parched flour (sattū) at day’s end; that, being tainted, she becomes unfit for her husband’s conjugal enjoyment; and that, though a brāhmaṇī, she gives birth to a fierce, warrior-like son of harsh kṣatriya temperament.”
