Gopradāna-Māhātmya: Inquiry into Goloka
नीत्वा तं यमदूतो<पि गृहीत्वा शर्मिणं तदा । ययौ स धर्मराजाय न्यवेदयत चापि तम्,तत्पश्चात् यमदूत शर्मीको पकड़कर वहाँ ले गया और धर्मराजको इसकी सूचना दी
nītvā taṃ yamadūto 'pi gṛhītvā śarmiṇaṃ tadā | yayau sa dharmarājāya nyavedayat cāpi tam ||
Bhishma said: “Then Yama’s messenger seized Śarmi, led him away, and went to Dharmarāja (Yama), duly reporting the matter to him.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights dharma as an inescapable moral order: deeds are brought before Dharmarāja (Yama), symbolizing that ethical accountability follows a person beyond immediate worldly circumstances.
A messenger of Yama seizes Śarmi and takes him to Dharmarāja, formally informing Yama about him/the case—depicting the procedural movement of a soul/person into the domain of judgment.
