Educational Q&A

A righteous ruler should honor those who know dharma, seek counsel through respectful dialogue, and conclude interactions fairly and courteously—without compulsion—sending the guest away properly once the purpose is fulfilled.

Yudhishthira (Dharmaraja) respectfully receives and honors a learned dharma-knower (described as a Brahmin), speaks with him to settle an understanding or consultation (saṁvid), and then dismisses him to depart in the same manner as he arrived.
