ब्रह्मलोकादयं स्वर्गे स्‍्तवराजो5वतारित: । यतस्तण्डि: पुरा प्राप तेन तण्डिकृतो$भवत्‌

Transliteration

Brahmalokād ayaṁ svarge stavarājo ’vatāritaḥ | yatas Taṇḍiḥ purā prāpa tena Taṇḍikṛto ’bhavat ||

Translation

Vāyu said: “This king of hymns was brought down from the world of Brahmā into heaven. Since the sage Taṇḍi once obtained it in ancient times, it came to be known as ‘Taṇḍi’s (hymn)’.”
