तदाप्रभृति चैवायमी श्वरस्य महात्मन: । स्तवराज इति ख्यातो जगत्यमरपूजित:,जिसको अन्तकालमें भी जान लेनेपर मनुष्य परमगतिको पा लेता है, वह यह सहस्रनामस्तोत्र परम पवित्र, मंगलकारक, बुद्धिवर्द्धछ, कल्याणमय तथा उत्तम है। सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके पितामह ब्रह्माजीने पूर्वकालमें इस स्तोत्रका आविष्कार करके इसे समस्त दिव्यस्तोत्रोंके राजाके पदपर प्रतिष्ठित किया था। तबसे महात्मा ईश्वर महादेवका यह देवपूजित स्तोत्र संसारमें 'स्तवराज” के नामसे विख्यात हुआ

tadāprabhṛti caivāyam īśvarasya mahātmanaḥ | stavarāja iti khyāto jagaty amarapūjitaḥ ||

From that time onward, this hymn in praise of the great-souled Lord (Īśvara/Mahādeva) became renowned in the world as the “Stavarāja,” the King of Hymns, and it is revered and worshipped by the immortals (the gods).
